Medical Brigade in Honduras

My name is Tyler Coy and I recently earned a bachelor’s degree in medical sociology from Kent State University. I am currently working at the Cleveland Clinic as a research technician and recently joined the leadership committee for MedWish’s Young Professionals Group. Combatting health disparities has become extremely important to me both personally and professionally. I have always wanted to change the world. As I have grown older, I’ve realized that this arbitrary aspiration is hard to execute. Too often when we face a problem in the world, we reactively talk about it and rarely take action. MedWish is a proactive organization which repurposes unused medical supplies to those in need, diverting tons and tons of waste from landfills. This organization has quickly formed a spot in my heart as it directly and actively changes the world by giving to those who don’t have by simply accepting from those who have too much.At the end of this June, I will hopefully be going to Honduras to assist in a medical clinic near Nuevo Paraiso. This Brigade will be serving rural populations that usually do not have access to receiving care usually provided in developed cities. This would be an incredibly nourishing opportunity to both learn and to serve in communities in need of hope and quality medical care. Each and every person deserves quality healthcare, and no one should go without seeing a medical professional. Although not a medical professional myself, I am eager to learn and will assist to the best of my ability. One day, though, I do hope to become a doctor, so hopefully this will by my first, but not last Brigade!Your help would mean the world to me.
