A Therapy Dog for Brendan

Hello everyone :) If you're reading this--first of all thank you. It means so much to our family that you want to know about our special Brendan and help him receive a therapy dog. Two years ago my son was diagnosed with Septo Optic Dysplasia. SOD is a rare congenital malformation syndrome featuring underdevelopment of the optic nerve, pituitary gland dysfunction, and absence of the septum pellucidum (a midline part of the brain). In other words my little toddler is completely blind and needs synthetic growth hormone to grow. Brendan is a special boy. It takes a lot of patience guidance to help him get to his milestones. He doesn't speak words yet--though he has recently began trying yay! He doesn't walk--yet--we are working with him on that too. Every lesson is a struggle--an obstacle for him to overcome. We recently have been talking about getting a therapy dog for Brendan. Am animal who understands that Brendan has a disability and will grow up with him, nurturing him and loving him and sharing in the good and bad experiences. We want a dog that will be a means of support mentally, physically and emotionally. With him getting closer to walking, we want this even more. We want a dog that will learn to help Brendan get around, be a constant companion at his side. Due to funds being tight (I know we are all struggling right now--these are hard times), we cannot afford this for Brendan. His therapist have agreed with me that having a therapy dog for Brendan would be beneficial--and so we are hoping to raise money to get him one :) I've added up the costs for the pup, training, and medical care.
