Save Bolton Hospice

The Bolton News has a long-established relationship with Bolton Hospice as its dedicated media partner. Some readers may not know this but the newspaper was instrumental in raising funds to help build the hospice initially and has continued to raise much-needed cash for this beloved local institution ever since.

However, Bolton Hospice needs people’s help more than ever. In June, a debate at Westminster revealed the well-loved Chorley New Road site is running at a £1.2 million loss and could be forced to cut nearly a third of its beds.

The hospice runs 16 beds alongside a range of other services, including ‘Hospice at Home’ and the ‘Wellbeing Hub’. It relies on a combination of private donations and fundraising, some of it left in people’s wills, with contributions from the government via the NHS.

We cannot afford to see the hospice cut its services - and so The Bolton News has launched a campaign that we’ll run throughout the year to help reduce the deficit by £100,000.

We know times are hard - but they’ll be even harder for so many local people if the hospice has to cut services.
