These mere words have comforted thousands of other adoptive parents. The words spoken from the hearts of two parents of 8 adopted children. Our best friends, Mike and Kristin Berry, from Westfield, IN, have reached out to thousands of subscribers daily through their blog Confessionsofaparent.com world wide. They have provided valuable insight and have invested in adoptive families though their blog and public speaking. They have let other adoptive parents know that they are not alone by sharing their own personal stories and experience.
After being fired from a church one year ago, Mike started his career as a writer and public speaker. Partnering with his wife, Kristin, their blog is read by hundreds of thousands of parents every day. Mike and Kristin do this because of the passion to help other adoptive families without asking for little in return.
Thier older son, Andre has FASD and requires 24 hour a day care at a facility in Reno, Nevada. Reno is almost 2100 miles from Westfield, IN. If they travel by car it would take them 30 hours. Mike and Kristin can only visit him once a month and it costs close to $1500 each trip. Their 7 other kids haven’t seen their brother in 6 months while Mike and Kristin have to take turns flying to see their son because they can't afford two plane tickets. They have sold everything they can think of including their 2nd car to help pay for Andre's care. While Andre's care has been covered, their savings account has been drained to visit him.
Friends, family and those of you have been touched by their blog or speaking events...the time has now come to help Mike and Kristin in return. Please help us let them know they are too... not alone. Please join us in showing them that they are loved and their son. The goal is $21,000, which will cover the next 6 months for BOTH parents to see their son, Andre.
