Please support the Austin Institute's 2021 Center for Family Flourishing Summit with key scholars and political leaders.

Highly placed elected officials leaders told the Austin Institute that Texas families need its scholarship and common sense working for them at the Capitol, so we responded to this vital need by creating the Center for Family Flourishing to use data (i.e., sound social science) to make better public policy for Texas families.

•         The Center will conduct research, prepare model legislation, and work the halls of the Capitol so that sound science and policies promoting, supporting, and defending the family and protecting children are given a strong voice in the Texas Legislature.

•         Dr. Kevin Stuart, Executive Director of the Austin Institute, has already given testimony multiple times this legislative session on key legislation. He was also called by a legislator at the last minute to provide important data regarding the finances of the growing trans treatment industry.

•         The Center for Family Flourishing will host a daylong closed-door summit, private consultation with key scholars and political leaders later this year:

o   to look ahead at what issues regarding the Family are coming at us,

o   to plan for the research needed to advance pro-family policies and to push back against the forces that harm families and individuals, and

o   to develop smart policy and model legislation.

The Austin Institute will be in the center of the fight for the Family and for our children.

There is a persistent and nearly pervasive belief that science and sound morals are at odds and thus that public policymakers must choose between them when making policy. This is a myth. Good science demonstrates over and over again the importance of the traditional family and traditional marriage to our wellbeing as people and as a society.

The Austin Institute has the credentials and expertise as a trusted source for what the science actually says about matters affecting the family ranging from sexuality and gender to religious liberty, divorce reform, girls’ and women’s sports, education reform, and many other policy areas. We can change the narrative by supplying sound science in support of the traditional family.
