Akwaaboo! (Welcome) to our village - ATONKWA

Atonkwa means "we come from greatness...I have purchased my life". The village is located in Elmina, a small city in Ghana West Africa, ground zero of the transatlantic slave trade which plagued this country for over 300 years.

The men, women and children of Atonkwa are no longer threatened with the fear of slavery but they are still very enslaved by poverty. Most residents of the village survive on an annual income of $400US or less per family.

Upon visiting this small village of approximately 1600 people I was overtaken with the lovely people, their sense of community and the overwhelming love that they demonstrate. I invite you to join me in embracing this slow thriving village.

I am proud to say that 100% of all donations will help the people of the village to earn a decent living, have enough food to feed their families and support their children's education.

It takes a small amount to help many. If we join together OUR DOLLARS CAN make a huge difference in the lives of these families. Find out more below.
