Major Conference Trip Abroad - GCSC

I am Anthony Maranise.
In mid 2014, I was invited by some of the brightest minds in my expertise field (sport-spirituality) to not only attend, but to also Co-Chair a vital section-strand (in Sport Chaplaincy) of the "Inagural Global Congress for Sport & Christianity" in York, UK. This major conference will be the first of its kind to take place and will bring together experts in this sorely neglected, yet ever-growing field, from all over the world.

My predicament as it relates to my need to launch this "Go Fund Me" page is quite simple: Because this is a multiple day conference - abroad - and the university with which I am afilliated is too small to offer institutional funding or reimbursement, I need assistance in off-setting the costs associated with my necessary and required attendence at this event. Many may argue that I do not have to participate in this conference - and could thus - very easily eliminate my need for funding assistance, HOWEVER, if I do not attend or participate, I would be unable to maintain my role as a co-strand leader / co-chair.
That said, I have devoted more than 11 years of my life (thus far - and likely will devote the remainder of my life) to research, writing, publication, practice, and teaching of the valuable intersections between sport, spirituality, and religion, and so to forfeit the incredible opportunity to lead, assist with, and participate in this major event would be a major step backwards in my career related to this field of study and interest. Not only that, it would also be my "settling" for something less than what is best. Ultimately, I will attend this global conference one way or another - whether it causes me great personal debt or not - although, I'm sure we can all agree - it would be better to remain debt-free.
Below, I am including a break-down of the related expenses needed for my attendence at this conference:
** Please note that all these expense estimates are just that... ESTIMATES, and are the most conservative ones I could calculate...
Travel -
International flight from Memphis, TN, USA to York, UK (obviously round-trip so I can get there ahead of the conference start-date and so have time to prepare for my presentations, etc; and to return after all my responsibilities have been completed)
Around (~) $4,000.00 USD
Conference Registration Fees -
Chairs, co-chairs, keynote speakers, general attendees all are required to pay something to offset general building rental costs, catering services, etc..
~ $600.00 USD
Accomodations / Lodging -
We are given special rates for staying at the host-university dorms as well as local / regional hotels, etc.. The estimate you see below is for a period of 4-5 days and nights total... and this includes our discounted rates.
~ $600.00 - 750.00 USD
Emergency Funds / Extra On-Hand Funds -
Although I will be able to handle this on my own, I am including the cost estimate so you get a general idea of the total expenses necessary for a trip / conference of this magnitude..
~ $650.00 USD
Grand Total: ~ $7,000.00 USD
Although this major conference is not until August 2016, there is much work to be done in the interim. My biggest concern is being able to raise enough funding through the support of generous contributors, like yourselves, to offset these necessary costs such that I won't have to incur major debt as a result of my participation.
I would appreciate any assistance you could offer me (before March / April 2016 by which time I will need to have made my flight / lodging / etc arrangements and/or reservations / bookings. Even that date estimate is HIGHLY conservative).
