Spende geschützt
My daughter Ananiya, or Niya as we call her, is a bright and energetic 9-year-old who loves music, Barbies, and playing outside with her two sisters and two brothers. She has cerebral palsy and is about to receive her first power wheelchair, which will finally give her a sense of independence she’s never had before. Until now, Niya has always relied on me or other family members to help her get around, both inside and outside our home. She dreams of playing tag and hide and seek with her siblings, but her manual wheelchair requires someone to push her, and her condition, osteopenia, means she can no longer use a walker or scoot around without pain. The power wheelchair is her only option for independent mobility, and she deserves the chance to thrive like any other child her age.
Right now, our home isn’t accessible for her new chair. Without a wheelchair ramp, Niya can’t get in and out of the house on her own, which means she’ll miss out on playing outside, getting to the school bus, or simply enjoying time with her siblings. We’re a family of seven, and our current vehicle can’t fit her new chair, making it impossible to take her to doctor’s appointments, family outings, or even a simple trip to the park. Without a wheelchair accessible van, Niya would have to go back to her manual chair, losing the independence she’s waited so long for.
We’re asking for help to purchase a wheelchair ramp for our home and a wheelchair accessible van. These changes will allow Niya to safely and easily get outside, go to school, and join our family on everyday adventures. With her power wheelchair arriving in the next couple of months, the sooner we can make these changes, the smoother her transition will be. Your support will help Niya experience the freedom and joy every child deserves.
