Amanda's Audiology Service Trip

First off, I would like to thank you for even taking the time to look at my GoFundMe site!
About Me:
My name is Amanda, I currently attend Minnesota State University, Mankato. I'm getting my bachelors degree in Communication Disorders and I plan on continuing my education into grad school to get my doctorate in Audiology.
My Story:
My first two years of school were really hard on me, and my GPA. My major was something which my heart was not completely set, My grades were very poor and I felt like giving up on school completely. Then one day I stumbled upon a friend who was about to make her choice of grad schools for the AuD program. I talked with her and then went straight to my advisor and officially changed my major. Since then, my grades have significantly improved, I've even made the Dean's List a couple of times. At MNSU we get the oppurtunity to particpate in a undergraduate audiology practicum, through this I really have gotten to see and fall in love with what I want to do for the rest of my life. I get to do full hearing evaluations, including; hearing screens, otoscopy, and tympanometry. We have even done school screenings for various schools in MN with grades varying from preschools to 8th grade. I'm so interested and passionate about audiology, I can't wait to go to grad school and eventually become a pediatric audiologist, to fufill both of my dreams; audiology and working with children.
My Mission:
Through MNSU, every semester students get chosen through an application process to go on the Belize Initiative Service Abroad Program. I have applied almost every semester since joining the CDis major, and after all the hard work I've put in my grades are no longer hindering and I have been selecte to go! On this trip I will get one of the greatest experiences of my life. We go to the island of San Pedro, Belize and during the two week period that I am there I will be providing audiological services for the local schools. These services are desperately needed there due to the complete lack of audiologists and speech pathologists in the area. I am so incredibly blessed to be a part of the effort to provide a better quality of life to the people who live there. Not only will this be an amazing cultural experience, but I will be doing what I love providing hearing serivices to the children of the island. This experience is also something amazing that could also help really set me ahead in the competive application process of grad school. This trip is all I've wanted since I joined the major.
How You Can Help:
As any individual this trip could finanically burden someone, especially a college student. This is why I am asking for a little from a lot of people just to make a difference in where I intend and need to be. Your donations would help me get to the island of San Pedro, my living accomodations while there, and the funds needed to provide the audiological services. Any donation would help and mean the world to me, plus it would probably be good karma for you ;).
If you are unable to donate monetarily, prayers and postive thoughts of support and safety are also very much appricated!
