20 years ago this friendship began. Alastaire and Bobbi began dating and he declared to her mom, "I'm going to marry your daughter!" That was at the beginning of this story of love, friendship and family. Bobbi and Al have been best friends for around half of their lives. They brought two beautiful souls into this world, Little Man; Alaistaire Jr and Moochie; Mitchell. The boys are growing into wonderful people due to the love and caring of these two parents. Big Al was always involved in the boy's lives. He was their dad, friend and coach. When he was coaching, he couldn't remember the kids names on the teams so he gave them all nicknames. He loved to coach kids, whether it be for Roseway Baseball, Football or Basketball, you could always find him at a game; for his team, his kid's teams and/or sometimes your kids games as well. Al also helped out in the school. He was known to go to class after a call from a teacher to straighten out kids that needed a bit of attention. He just was always there for kids, anybody, any time.
As a part of the community, the Allen family were big lovers of impromptu pot lucks in front of their house on 66th. Al being a lover of everything BBQ, would pull out a table at the drop of a hat and spend quality time with neighbors. Don't forget the dominos! Al had a serious love of the game.
One thing about Al, is no matter where he was, he would always know someone...one time at Tacoma Mall, he was directing a fellow patron to his soon to be vacant parking space. Once the car got a little closer it turned out that the driver was a friend of Al's. After hugs and talking in the parking lot, the family were on their way, marveling at the fact that he knew everyone!
So, Al leaves behind a giant hole in the lives of everyone he ever met; his friends but especially his family. Little Man and Moochie will forever have a dad shaped hole in their hearts. Their lives are forever changed. This is mostly for them that I ask for your gifts of love. For shoes, for schooling, for sports, for braces, for life. They have a long road ahead and broken hearts to mend. Bobbi will take great care of the gifts that Al gave to her (the boys) and any gifts you give to the family. She will be forever greateful.
