Avondale ES Students' Garden Club
Donation protected
The Avondale Elementary School Students’ Garden Club will engage students in two modes of authentic, hands-on, inquiry-based learning. First, students will do work crucial to the upkeep of the student garden, which is being developed as an integral part of the curriculum for all AES students across content areas. In that work, student gardeners will learn to care for vegetable, herb, and pollinator-friendly plants (with appropriate cautions with respect to bees) and beneficial organisms while controlling weeds and pests using, whenever practical, organic methods. Second, students will develop and test hypothesis related to the garden.
Student gardeners will be supervised at all times, in the garden and the computer lab, by school faculty. Gardening activities will be led by a professional garden coach from the staff of the Wylde Center (http://wyldecenter.org/). The developing and testing of hypothesis will be led by a retired science teacher and teacher of teachers of science.
If you prefer, donationscan be made by check,
payable to Avondale ES PTA, with Students' Garden Club as the purpose. Checks can be a) mailed to:
Avondale Elementary School
Atn: PTA/Students' Garden Club
8 Lakeshore Dr.

or b) dropped off at the school office.
I would love notification ([email redacted]) of checks mailed or delivered as I keep track of the funding for the Garden Club.
