Hello,

My name is Emily and I'm Poet's mum. Poet is an almost nine year-old (almost sixty-three year-old in human years) Maltese, who recently had to have her gall bladder removed due to fluid build-up and severe inflammation.

Having received this surgery on Tuesday the 29th of April, she has experienced serious complications. She continues to have generalised abdominal inflammation and has experienced excessive pain, prolonged inappetance, dehydration, diarrhoea and at the time of writing, two strokes.

She has been upgraded to a critical care patient at SASH (Small Animal Specialist Hospital) where she will remain hospitalised with 24/7 care for the coming days.

The past week of medical appointments, surgery and diagnostics has been incredibly expensive. I don't have pet insurance because my critical thinking is flawed and I'm a loon. I'm paying the price for my shortcomings, but would appreciate some help. This fundraiser is a call for help with the next bill of up to $13,000. I intend on continuing to provide Poet with the best chance of recovery.
