Let’s help Charlie

This Thing happened earlier and I want to share it with you all.
Last minute we decided to pop into Ely and pick up a John Lewis order from Waitrose. At the customer service desk is a lady (Charlotte) telling the staff about a homeless man whose birthday it is today, asking if Waitrose could help. Maybe with a cake or something. Then said no, they already give to charity.
I introduced myself to Charlotte and explained that I had been homeless for 6 months as a teenager, and now life is good. I asked what she was trying to do, and we decided to club together to help this homeless man, Charlie.
We discovered he has a room that costs him £20 a day, so together we bought him cakes, candles, a card and put £20 in the envelope so at least he is covered for somewhere to sleep tonight.
We went to give Charlie his gifts, and I introduced myself and learned more about his life. Asked him what else he needed - he’s having a few friends over tonight for his birthday so after checking his cooking facilities we popped off to get him some pizzas and other bits.
He was so delighted. He has a plan! A plan that means within 6 weeks he should hopefully be living and working at Emmaus.
That’s still 6 weeks of needing £20 a night (5 nights a week, weekends are free). 6 weeks of not knowing where the next penny will come from.
I want to do more for Charlie. He’s said that clothes (medium) and blankets will be of use.
I would love to raise £600 for Charlie, to cover 6 weeks of the room he has found (remember he only pays for 5 nights a week).
Thank you in advance.
