Caretaker Help

When I started this campaign, 22 months ago, I needed help taking care of Mom. When she went Home to be with Jesus, I kept it going so I could keep the home I’ve lived in for almost 30 years. A lot of wonderful people stepped up and really helped me in my time of need. A couple of people outside of this campaign helped me and I was managing very well – until a couple of months ago.

I took care of my Mom for over 13 years and it was the greatest blessing of my life, but the grief almost destroyed me. The 18 months since she passed have been both a blessing and a curse: a blessing because God has shown me the kindness of others as well as purpose for myself – a curse because getting back on my feet has been beyond difficult. I wrote a book  about the journey from deep depression to a place of hope, in the months after Mom passed away. It was an extremely hard book to write, but I did it in hopes of helping other caretakers who are either going through the same thing or preparing for it. I didn’t expect the book to be a best-seller, but I did hope that it would do better than it has. A few months ago a friend recommended that I look into a business opportunity that he knew about, so I did. It is a ‘dream’ opportunity and I have been in communications with a company that sells products to the automotive industry – they have distributor in every state except New Mexico, so I could be the company’s distributor here! It isn’t a franchise, nor is it a multi-level scheme – it would be my business, and mine alone – selling quality products for a company that has been in business for over 60 years. So, I started looking into small business loans and have a meeting with the Small Business Development Center in our area. I am doing everything I can to grasp this opportunity and make the absolute best of it. There’s just one problem…

On August 1, 2019 the mortgage company will commence with foreclosure on this home I live in, and I will lose my internet and phone services around the same time. If I lose this house there will be no chance of me starting my own business and making a life for myself. I have tried my absolute best to keep up with the monthly bills, but my time is running out and I have reached a point of absolute desperation. As I write this, the last donation was made 11 months ago and the total stands at $6,266. I stopped promoting this campaign because I grew weary of being a burden on so many wonderful people. If I had just kept it up until I reached my goal, I would not be in dire circumstances now. So, here I am, with hat in hand, asking you to help me meet my goal so I can keep my home. I will keep you updated. Thank you, from the depths of my desperate soul, for your time and patience. May God pour His blessings upon you and refresh you.

Sincerely,
Susan

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is with a heavy heart I must announce the news that my beautiful Mom went Home to be with Jesus on Saturday January 13, 2018. I started this account last fall to get help taking care of her. Thanks to the prayers and generosity of so many wonderful people, Mom’s last few months on this earth were comfortable and filled with joy. She was extremely grateful, as am I, for the outpouring of support.

I am coming back to this account to ask for help, again.  Because my only job (and greatest blessing of my life) was to take care of Mom, I have no recent employment history. Even though Mom’s wishes were for me to have this house that we’ve lived in for 28 years, the time never came to have my name put on the deed or the mortgage. So, besides the costs of cremation (I have some saved back, but it won’t cover it), in the coming weeks and months, I will be faced with the costs of probate, ambulance service (insurance doesn’t cover it) and a mountain of other bills that will be coming in. There is a very real possibility that I may lose my home, so I ask that you pray and pray often that God will cover me in this and that I will be able to keep it. I will only owe about $60k on it, but where I am right now, it may as well be 60million.

Mom had great confidence in my ability to write and encouraged me to do so. I was able to get my first e-book published the day before she went Home, and it made her very proud. As per her wishes, I plan to pursue writing, and do so with the honor she instilled in me. It may take a while for me to be able to make a living at it, but I will do everything I can to make that happen – everything being pray and write. It is going to take a while for me to get up on my feet, and in the meantime, I face very troubling times. So, again, I must swallow my pride and ask for prayers and help. I do not want to let Mom down, but I don’t want to let those who have helped us down either. I am not going to sit life out; I will press forward and do what I can to survive. Should the Lord allow it, I will succeed and be able to make Mom and those who helped along the way proud of me. Thank you for your prayers, support and encouragement – I appreciate it more than words can describe.

Sincerely,

Susan
