My Volunteer Trip

Most of my friends and family know I travelled to Thailand in 2006.  While I was there, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a local orphanage.  This experience opened my eyes about the poverty and hardships people experience in other parts of the world.  I decided then that volunteering is something I wanted to continue to do in the future.
Many of you also know that my father passed away recently.  He volunteered with many different charity organizations and I was very proud of him for this.  His death reignited my desire to give back.  Since then I have been looking for a  way to incorporate volunteering into my career as a Dental Hygienist.   Recently I heard of the oppportunity to travel to South America with the charity group Chalice.  They wanted to include a dental piece into their already great work.   I knew this opportunity was the experience I was looking for but I also knew that financially it would be difficult for me.   I would have to take time off work, pay for trip costs and incur other travel related expenses.  
 As we enter the one week countdown, many of you expressed an interest in assisting me with the financial costs involved in this trip and have encouraged me to create this page.  I have wonderful, generous people in my life and I am so thankful for your support.  I appreciate any financial donations  to help cover travel costs and to purchase much needed supplies for the people of Cochabamba, Bolivia, including school/craft supplies, children's books, and non prescription medications.  If you would like to contribute these items, please contact me directly.
