OH FRIENDS, FAMILY, AQUAINTANCES....
you who have held a gentle hand at my back as I've walked towards the undeniable call of midwifery --
you who have stood in front of me, challenging my next step --
I am almost done with midwifery school (miles to go!).
In July and August I will spend 4 weeks volunteering at MamaBabyHaiti: a free-standing birth center in Northern Haiti. Go explore the website -- it is an amazing thing they are doing.
http://www.mamababyhaiti.org/
Here I will work alongside Haitian and American midwives, providing prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care to Haitian families. There are about 10 births each week there, and many of the women in labor have had no prenatal care.
I am honored and humbled to offer my hands and my heart to help in any way I can for a small time, a big time.
I need your help.
~$ 2,500 will cover my volunteer fee (lodging, food, clinic maintance).
~$ 1,000 (or more!) will be used to buy supplies for the clinic. Please feel free to donate funds for supplies directly to MamaBabyHaiti through their website, or donate here and the funds will be offered all together to keep their cupboards stocked.
I am so grateful for your generosity. I truly couldn't do the work I do without the help of those around me.
Just as it takes a village to raise a child,
it takes a village to raise a midwife.
LOVE AND THANK-YOUS,
Fiona
