I address you with a broken spirit...and I write these words from the depths of despair
My name is Haitham, a teacher from Gaza. I spent 25 years teaching, during which I built generations of pride for me and for them, and during which I also built two homes, for me and my only son, who was preparing for marriage after he graduated from university...and suddenly something happened that we did not expect.
The last war on Gaza destroyed everything, and destroyed the two homes and everything we owned with a clear conscience. Unfortunately, this is not the first time, but the second time that the occupation has destroyed my home during the ongoing conflict...
Dear and loyal ones, I did not come to you until after successive wars had exhausted us throughout our lives. In a country with few resources and many wars, it is not easy to rebuild what the occupation destroys every time. Until I became convinced that the only survivor is the one who dies so that he does not see the continuous bleeding of his losses before his eyes. O Allah !! All our dreams were shattered. In the middle of the night on October 20, 2023, and in the midst of the chaos of war, bombs rained down on the two houses, and they simply turned into rubble. My family and I have been homeless since that time, and we only have the clothes we wear. Our cherished memories, our hopes for the future, were all snatched from us in an instant, leaving behind nothing but the echo of loss, frustration, fear, and little of what was to come.
Since October 20, 2023, we have been in a state of displacement from tent to tent and from place to place inside Gaza, which is being bombarded and exterminated throughout the day. My family and I still escape certain death every time, and I still reject all attempts to displace us through siege at times and starvation and bombing at other times. Just imagine for a moment what you would do if a tank stood in front of where you were for 15 days, sniping at every mover, while you were inside without food and water!! What difficult days, we lost the ability to continue.. But I was feeding on the prayers of my mother, whom the occupier lost one of her eyes due to her injury, and caused her, my children, and my wife constant terror, destitute mental health, and exhausted bodies, and I do not know when we will recover from all of this, while the cruelty of our oppressors continues to follow us. Now, we find ourselves in a shelter, a grim reminder of the fragility of life and the harsh realities of conflict.
Dear and free people everywhere, we are now facing the stark reality of being abandoned and left to fend for ourselves in a world that has turned its back on our suffering and losses that are accumulating day after day.
I turn to you, loyal people, to help us build our home. I do not have anything to keep me going while I want to stay in my country, Gaza. Everyone is asking for financial help to leave Gaza, while we are asking for help so that we can rebuild what the occupation destroyed, and build hope and the future with your help and the help of sincere people around the world.
I am grateful to everyone who wants to help us overcome what we are in. I cannot imagine what we will do and how we will manage our affairs without shelter. Please help us ......
