We are organizing to protect our small rural town from an out-of-state developer.

A Missouri company wants to build a large apartment complex in one of our historic Queen Anne neighborhoods. The 24 units will be offered at market rate, not as affordable housing (which our community needs).

A building complex of this scale would damage the long-term health of Northfield's economy. We need economic development that protects our natural resources and creates good jobs, not overdevelopment. This type of project exploits our town's architectural and environmental beauty for private purposes. It is the wrong scale, the wrong design, and the wrong location. Had the developer reached out even a little to neighbors, we could have helped them design better alternatives.

The iconic former campus of the Northfield Mount Hermon School is the proposed building site and is currently owned by The Moody Center of Kansas.

NorthfieldCAN will use donated funds to secure expert guidance in land use law and community development, with minimal administrative expenses.

Please help us protect our town. Help us stand up to large, out-of-state companies who want to exploit what's precious about our towns without consulting townspeople. Help us ensure that generations to come are able to enjoy the beauty of this little corner of Western Massachusetts.
