Hi, I’m Pamela Langston and I’m a critical care nurse, mom, and amateur hockey player in the Metro Detroit area. I live with my son in the Hazel Park neighborhood.
In October, I was injured in a rec league hockey game and needed surgery to repair two tears in the conjoined tendon of my hamstring. I had surgery on 10/31. I’ve been unable to work since 10/12/25 and have gotten some short-term disability benefits but less than 60% of my normal wages. I’ve tried to keep up with my bills, but with the rising cost of food and necessities, new medical bills rolling in, and now a lapse in short-term disability benefits due to my doctor being late with my paperwork, I’m facing eviction in 7 days. I just want to keep my home for my son and me, keep my heat and electricity on, and keep my car until I can go back to work, hopefully around the New Year's holiday.
My son and I don’t want fancy stuff for Christmas; we just want to be together and safe till I can work again. Harry has been helping me get stronger through exercise. He is finishing up school and has gotten a part-time job, but it does not start till after Thanksgiving. We are grateful for any help, and we hope we will get the chance to help others in the future.
