Hi, I'm Ed Goodwin IV from Merrick,NY, though if you're in the MLP fandom you probably know me as Spike Firemane or "that wood-carving guy." Since joining the fandom in 2012, I have donated my handmade art to charity auctions at such conventions as BronyCon, Everfree Northwest, BABSCon, and Ponyville Ciderfest, among others. I wish I didn't have to reach out like this, but the situation is dire. My mother and I are in danger of losing our home.
Here are the facts:
• I myself am on disability because of back issues, unable to lift the required amount or stand for long periods of time as required in my field.
• Recently, I've been working as an unpaid caregiver for my mother who has both had a stroke and recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.
• Between our standard expenses, a $16,000 property tax bill, and the newly-added cost of my mother's chemotherapy, facing seizure of the house.
So, in the words of Princess Leia, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi! You’re my only hope.” I know it’s a big ask, and I never wanted to have to depend on the kindness of the community, but that’s where my mother and I find ourselves…in a story that’s practically a cliché nowadays. Everything raised wil be used to remove the debt and keep our home!
