The mission is to provide a support system for Femi and his wife because that is how we become part of a positive change. Below are Femi's words:
My name is Femi Ayodele, and as you might have guessed, I am a recent immigrant to the US, living in Miami Florida. I am married to my lovely and hitherto lively wife Aderonke Ayodele.
She is a gentle and an impossible-not-love person. We have had a beautiful life and we've been blessed by two great kids, ages two and four. We are a family of four.
However, things have changed for us. My wife has a stage four terminal lung cancer.
She never was a drinker or a smoker, but sometimes, when these things happen, rational explanations elude us all.
The world suddenly turned dark on the 23rd of December, 2013 when she was diagnosed with this terrible disease. She has since been on radiation and chemotherapy. She was intubated for two weeks in April 2014.
Needless to say, my entire world has been in turmoil ever since. I am severely challenged. I still work, because I have to and I spend every minute leftover, attending to our children.
Am I struggling and exhausted? Yes.
Can I do with your help? Yes.
Will I forever be grateful for your care and concern? Yes! Very much so.
I am in the process of taking unpaid, job protected Family Medical Leave (FMLA) for 12 weeks to be able to cater for these children and my wife.
