Hey Family and Friends,
This is baby Remi. She was born to Dayton and Gentrie De Jong on September 23rd. Remi swallowed blood during her delivery. While on high oxygen, she aspirated on stomach fluids causing her oxygen levels to drop dangerously low. In order to give Remi the best possible care, she was life flighted to the NICU at IMC. At the NICU, the doctors discovered Remi has pneumonia and a blood infection. As of now, Remi will be at the NICU for 14 days.
No one anticipates or prepares for their newborn baby to stay 14 days in the NICU. Even with health insurance, the new parents are looking at a very large hospital bill. Extended stays at the NICU can add up quickly.
My heart breaks for Gentrie and Datyon. As a new mom, I cannot imagine what they are going through not being able to bring home their baby girl. Let’s help ease the financial burden for the young couple so they can concentrate on baby Remi!!
