Refugee Single Mother

A refugee family is in desperate need of our help. Since refugees can only stay in the shelter for a very limited time, this single mother and her two sons (age 2 with Down syndrome and age 10) were scrambling in the last few days to find a place to live. She was about to be taken advantage of by a landlord who wanted to significantly overcharge her for rent. He took her deposit even though no contract was signed. Luckily, she was able to find a different, less expensive apartment after being advised by a friend. Unfortunately, the new landlord is requiring an extra month’s rent up front (which she does not have) or a guarantor. Since asking anyone to be a guarantor in this situation, not knowing the family, seems like a big ask, we are hoping to raise the money for the extra month’s rent so she does not lose out on this apartment. She receives enough money from the government to cover monthly rent moving forward.
