Vulnerable Seniors

A terrible thing happened to my dear friend’s parents, and I’m afraid it can happen to other vulnerable seniors, as well. 

My friend's parents are 92 and 87.  

Scammers targeted them and managed to convince them that their beloved grandson was in jail and they were the only ones who could help him.

They were convinced to take out their life savings in order to help him.

Even though their bank was not supposed to allow more than $1000 to be withdrawn per day, they readily allowed Ester to withdraw the entire amount of $8,900. 

Recently, Ester said, "I feel so bad. We were like lambs to a slaughter. How could we have been so dumb?"  I tried to reassure her that they had acted purely out of love for their grandson. They proved that they would do anything it takes, to save him, even if it meant giving them all their money. She didn't feel better.

Please, tell the seniors around you that this is happening. It happened here, in the lower mainland of BC. It can happen anywhere. Seniors are vulnerable and we need to look after them.
