Dear Friends,
My name is Angela, I am a GFR mitra from Australia and I am fundraising for my fellow Dharma-sister Seden, who will be travelling to Adhisthana this year for the Young Women’s Dharma Life Course, all the way from Istanbul, Turkey.
I had the good fortune of doing the same course at Adhisthana last year and it was truly life-changing. It deepened my faith in the Three Jewels in a way I did not conceive would be possible. I feel very excited about the consequences that will unfold for Seden on this course, and how this will also benefit her sangha back home.
FUNDRAISING TARGET $6300 AUD (converts to approximately £3000)
Given how weak the Turkish Lira is compared to the GBP, it is understandably challenging for Seden and her sangha to raise enough money to cover the costs for her stay at Adhisthana.
I would like to raise $6300 AUD (£3000) to cover the following costs:
· Price of Dharma Life Course at Adhisthana (includes food, accommodation, travel costs for Order members supporting the course)
· A donation to Adhisthana
· Flights to and from UK/Turkey
· Small amount of pocket money
It would be absolutely wonderful if you could donate any amount.

A message from Seden
Here, Seden writes what coming to Adhisthana will mean to her and her sangha in Istanbul:
“Currently we have one Order member that supports the sangha in Turkey living in Istanbul. In 2015 he asked help for the growing sangha from other Order members to come and live in Turkey but didn't get a response. Though two Order members have come out to co-lead retreats with him here. Thus, I thought rather than waiting for foreign people coming to Turkey, and accepting the fact that we have to be an English-speaking sangha in Turkey, I believe I can help to spread the dharma and support the sangha as one of the very few Turkish speaking Buddhists in Turkey by attending the Dharma Life Course. By this way, I believe learning and practicing new skills to share the dharma will benefit me and my sangha in Istanbul in the not so distant future.
I believe one of the challenges in my Buddhist practice is the power of this culture that I was born in. I believe being able to detach myself from these wrong views that are closely related with this culture’s perspective is more likely possible if I live in Adhisthana. By this means, I can feel more free and realize my potential for growth in order to benefit others.
Also with the Dharma Life Course, I would like to get the opportunity to “experience” the dharma, sangha and buddha in a less stressful and more supportive environment within a focused time interval. I would like to experience Buddhism that is beyond study. Developing relationships with different Order members and mitras in Triratna, working in a Buddhist community and deepening my non-conceptual practice of dharma like ritual practices are some of the things I can think of that will be of benefit to me.”
