Medical Help

We have created this fundraiser on behalf of our sister Shirley. Recently Shirley was given the devastating news that she has cancer. To date doctors have confirmed 3 separate areas (breast, heart, and lungs) that contain masses and we have been informed that one of the areas (lungs) will be untreatable. At this point Shirley will be starting the fight of her life to stay with us for as long as God will allow. Her entire life Shirley has been a hardworking women who is totally devoted to her children and grandchildren. At this point in her life, 5 of her 6 children are grown adults but she is still a single mom raising her 8 year old daughter, along with being the best Nana to her 4 wonderful granddaughters. Due to insurance rules Shirley must travel to Boston for all doctor visits and treatments. The cost of this travel is very expensive because of gas prices and parking fees in the city, not to mention feeding herself while she is in Boston for the day. As many of you also know, insurance does not always cover everything (ie- prescriptions, medical devises, travel, etc.) and we are looking for a way to help make up for the financial deficit due to the fact she is no longer working full time. As a family we are rallying to do all we can for Shirley during this difficult time. We are trying to raise this money for Shirley to offset the costs of her treatment not covered by insurance and if possible we would like to use some of the money to fulfill her last dying wish. One of Shirley's greatest wishes before she dies would be to take her 8 year old daughter on a vacation to Disney. Of course, our first priority for using the money we raise will be to help with the increased finances needed for her treatment. However, if we are able to collect enough we plan to send our sister and her daughter on that Disney trip. The entire family would like to thank you for reading and sharing this.
