Medical and Funeral Expenses

Mark Mayfield has battled diabetes for years. He and his wife, Melanie, fell on hard times 10 years ago when Mark had heart issues and had to have a pacemaker. His health continued to decline and he was unable to work. About 5 years ago, Mark had to have a partial amputation of his right leg which led to a total amputation a couple of years ago. He has also suffered from heart attacks during this time. Last month, Mark became a double amputee. This past week, Mark had a severe heart attack. This attack damaged his heart beyond repair. He is home now on hospice and only has a few days to live. Melanie has been a dedicated wife and has been beside him every step of this journey. She has been his caregiver throughout and therefore, they have lived on a VERY limited income in a small apartment. Both of their children have worked in the oil and gas business and have lost their jobs and are unable to help financially.
Mark and Melanie's situation is heartbreaking, especially for those who know them. Mark was a great person and friend. He was lucky to share the last 26 years with an equally dear person. They are very private people and would never ask for help like this. Mike Ashfelter, a life-long friend, and I are asking for help for them. They are in great need of money to cover his funeral expenses and medical bills. Any funds raised above these needs will go to help Melanie with general living expenses.
They know life is in God's hands and can use all the prayers and financial help you can give. We, I am speaking for both Mike and myself, feel it has been an honor to have had Mark as a friend for so many years.
Sincerely,
Mike Ashenfelter
