Justin's Recovery Fund

On April 6, after weeks of laying in bed in agony, my brother Justin decided to go to the ER one more time to seek help because he felt like he was dying because he was in so much pain... Thank God he did because he was literally on death's doorstep. Within hours, Justin underwent emergency surgery for an appendix that was leaking toxins into his body and slowly killing him. Had he not gone to the hospital when he did, he would have died within hours!!

The road that lead Justin to this emergency surgery is filled with numerous misdiagnoses and lots of pain. Justin was laid up in a bed for more than 3 weeks before he went to the ER AGAIN and they did an upper body scan to find an abscess and bloodwork to find his white blood cell count in the 130's. This abscess was removed but the surgeon could not find his appendix and concluded that it had disintegrated from the toxins. After being in the hospital for almost a week, Justin was still in excruciating pain and one of his legs was double the size of the other. A second scan was performed of his entire body and another abscess was located on his hip... So another surgery had to be performed to remove this as well. During the second surgery, the surgeon discovered that the bacteria in Justin's body was extremely aggressive and it was decided that they would leave the wounds open to treat the infection. Justin was then placed in ICU and has undergone multiple 5 hour procedures on almost a daily basis for the surgeon to unpack and re-pack the wounds with antibiotic packs. These procedures will continue until the infection can be stopped and the wounds can be stitched back up. Justin will remain in the hospital under further notice. When he is able to leave the hospital, he will be transferred to a short-term nursing facility so he can learn to walk again. He has not walked in almost 6 weeks.

Justin has been in pain for so long that he has not been able to work and will optimistically be able to work again in July... MAYBE. Although he does have insurance, insurance does not cover the bills that pile up while he's trying to get healthy and he is STRESSED out. Stress does not equal good health. I've, to the best of my ability, tried to calculate the bills he's behind on and we've tried to anticipate when he may be able to return to normal life and start earning a living again. Any amount of money we can raise to help him would be miraculous and ease his burdens during this difficult time! Thank you all in advance and our family is so appreciative of all the prayers and kind words. It is overwhelming and so touching at how many people have reached out and I appreciate the multiple recommendations to set up a gofundme for Justin.
