Christina's Crusade

This donation page has been created for some very special people who are about to begin fighting a battle against one of the rarest forms of cancer to date. I am hopeful that this page will allow you to help support this family as they begin a very difficult journey to beating Sacrum Chordoma.

Christina and Josh Willoughby have been excited to welcome a new baby boy into their family. They are already the parents to a beautiful three year daughter.  While pregnant, Christina had been experiencing terrible lower back pain. She had explored multiple therapeutic interventions in an effort to relieve the pain, and after they failed to be successful she was told it was typical pregnancy back pain. She went into labor Saturday night, March 29th and delievered a beautiful baby boy named Clark Edward. After delievery, she was still experiencing excruciating lower back pain, so her physician ordered an MRI. The results of the test changed their lives instantaneously. The MRI results revealed a large tumor on her sacrum. Further testing indicated that the tumor was malignant, and she was diagnosed with Sacrum Chordoma. Chordoma is a VERY rare cancer, affecting literally one in a million, and one in three million for her particular diagnosis of Sacrum Chordoma. This was all discovered within hours of welcoming their sweet baby boy into the world. This type of cancer is so rare that most local hospitals have never even treated a patient with the diagnosis.

Treatment options are limited, and if this type of cancer isn't treated aggressively her life expectancy could be greatly imapcted. She is now facing radiation, surgery to remove the tumor, and extensive rehabilitation due to the effects of trauma to the spinal cord. The surgery is risky, and can leave extreme changes in her day to day life. Christina is a fighter and has EVERY intention of beating the odds and getting healthy for her sweet family! As her friend, I can't say enough about the awesome person Christina is! She is a special education teacher, a wife, a fabulous mother, and a great friend just to name a little about her! She is one of the strongest, most positive women I know! This has changed her life very quickly and it is so tragic to face this while they should be enjoying their precious new baby, BUT she has shown ONLY strength and positivity! They are prepared to fight and WIN this battle!

They have found a hospital in Boston, MA that has advanced treatment options for Sacrum Chordoma, and Christina and Josh feel very confident about chosing this hosptial for her surgery, radiation, and rehabilitation. One of the greatest challenges they will face will be the financial stress of traveling to and from Boston, while maintaining their home in White House, TN. My goal is to raise funds as well as other types of donations that will help them during this time.  All prayers and words of encouragment are also greatly appreciated and will be directly shared with Christina. My heart is so heavy for this special family and I am hopeful that their story will touch the hearts of so many! They will begin the journey to and from Boston within the next two weeks. Please consider helping in any way possible. I believe there is no contribution too little.
