8 Fatherless Children

WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS,  and this family doesnt earn when it rains.  They moved to the city to give their children a better life, but in December the father died of the Bird flu leaving the mother with 8 children, the youngest less than 6 months old.  The kids left school and shine shoes and the mom sells bananas on the street during the day.  But when it rains she cannot sell.  The children often do not eat. They live in a 7 foot by 12 foot room and share a bathroom with around 30 others.  The death of the father also left her with 2500 in medical and burial expenses.  I will send a photo of this beautiful family if you donate.  I have never met children who have more smiles and are so happy even when they dont eat.  They are a testament to the best of humanity. This money will go to pay their rent for a year while she feeds and pays her debt and they dont become homeless.  If you live in Cuenca I will introduce you to the family.  Some days her income is as little as 7 dollars for the day.
