A hard climb towards alleviating poverty
On July 4th this year, I am embarking on a journey alone to reach the top of Mt Kilimanjaro - the highest free standing mountain in the world and the tallest mountain in Africa.
BUT! I need your help! As I have never attempted a fete as big and as daunting as this one, I have decided to raise money for an amazing locally run organisation called Food, Water ,Shelter located in Arusha, Tanzania, to help motivate me to make it to Uhuru peak - the top of Mt Kili! (5985m)
Why donate money to this organisation when there're hundreds out there you say?
The organisation- Food, Water, Shelter assists highly vulnerable women (widows of HIV, victims of gender inequality and violence), children and orphans to develop the necesary skills and knowledge to grow and cultivate their own food and sustainable water resources, build their own sustainable houses and promote indepedent income (away from relying on the male bread winner).
The organisation also teaches young children basic health education and safety practices with school classes offered to many kids in the poverty stricken area of Arusha.
The reason I selected this program to donate to is because it's main aim is to help vulnerable people of Tanzania to get out of poverty with out a dependence on aid - something which is highly underachieved around the world. That is, the local people are taught the necessary skills to teach other local people rather than depending on work by western volunteers and sponsorships.
Please help me reach the top of Mt Kilimanjaro by helping these women and children live with food, water and shelter forever - something we take for granted every day!
I will be visiting the organisation on July 12th to hopefully deliver my goal amount after reaching the top of Mt Kilimanjaro!
Thank you all kindly - please dig deep!
