Laura & Alvaro Home Birth Fund

Hello friends and family!! Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. 

Since Alvaro and I met, our lives have shown us in more ways than one that we had a much bigger calling to fufill than what we imagined.  So much of our lives has changed since we decided to accept and take on our new role as a family.  

I left a very succesful after-school program that I founded in Austin and moved to San Antonio in order to start a family with Alvaro, and he left his long-time job at Toyota to finish his degree so that he could follow his career goals.  Needless to say, those were very hard decisions financially, because we knew we would struggle for a few years while we established a solid foundation for our family.  

When Huitzi, who some of you know, was born, he had a warrior's welcome at home, surrounded by people we loved and trusted and an amazing team of midwives and doulas.  Now we are expecting our second child and we are asking for your help in order to make his birth as beautiful as Huitzi's.  Given the cutback we have had to make financially, at this time, we can't afford to pay a midwife on our own and are asking our family, friends and supporters of home births, to please help us raise enough money to have a safe and beautiful birth for our second son.  

Natalie Lake, a midwife in Austin, has offered us a very generous discount to deliver our newest son but we can't reach our goal alone! Our new baby is due August 15th and we ask that if it is within your means, please help us have our baby at home.  I am very uneasy about hospitals and feel anxiety just walking into one, so can't imagine that having our son in the hospital would be a good option for us at this time. 

We have been blessed with endless love and support from our community and family and will be eternally grateful to have you be a part of our home birth team!
