Help Prema Fight Cancer & Continue Her Treatment

My name is Ram Kanchan, and I reside in Bethpage, New York. I am starting this fundraising campaign for my sister Prema V Byndoor. Prema(43 years old) is a mother of two(15 and 11), a wife and a sister. She is a very talented singer and was always treated as the jewel of our family.

On July 13, 2022, My sister Prema was diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic stomach cancer. It is progressively spreading into the ovaries and the rest of the organs. She is experiencing abdominal pain and a drop in hemoglobin level, leading to her weakness as cancer cells take over her body. As she has stepped into one of her darkest days, Prema has to begin this fight against cancer for her life. A fight that no human should ever endure. We kindly ask our friends, family and whoever is reading this for your financial support and prayers in helping Prema start her cancer treatment. The total estimated expense for the treatment is $40,000, and I, along with my family were able to help her with $15,000

A few months ago, Prema started to experience discomfort in her stomach after eating food. The food she was consuming would make her vomit. Worried about this, Prema consulted her physician, and she was given medication to stop her vomiting and stomach pain. Prescribed medications were ineffective; her stomach became more sensitive to the food she was consuming. Slowly, she started losing her appetite for her everyday meal, eventually weakening her. Even after all this pain, she was still taking care of her kids and her husband.

In addition to this, Prema’s husband Vasudeva V Byndoor had severe chest pain a couple of years ago and had to undergo an emergency Coronary artery bypass surgery. Even after his surgery, he has medical conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Due to all these, Prema cared more about her husband's health than hers. As a loving mother, she put her kids' needs above her sickness. Due to the above situation, she was spending her money on kids' education and supporting her spouse's medication. Hence she was not able to afford health insurance.

Towards the end of July, Prema’s condition started becoming worse. She started experiencing terrible abdominal pain, vomiting and indigestion. Even though her condition was worsening, she would say that she would see the doctor only when her kids get their holidays. On July 13th, she went to a well-known hospital in her city, Manipal. She was advised to have her full body examined through Biopsy Endoscopy. After examining the reports, the doctor informed us that Prema had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and we must start the treatment immediately.

My goal in organizing this fundraiser is to make sure Prema would go through this without the additional stress of worrying about financial costs. She has to undergo multiple cycles of FOLFOX chemotherapy (6 cycles) followed by a potential surgery. She DOES NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, so any financial help from you would be appreciated. Funds raised here will be going towards Prema’s medical expenses only. We will update her recovery and keep you posted about her health.
