We’re raising funds for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Dallas, an organization that stands beside families rebuilding their lives after conflict, disaster, or unsafe conditions at home. The IRC helps newcomers secure housing, learn English, access healthcare, find employment, and navigate the everyday systems that make stability possible.

As a group of multi-faceted women who grew up witnessing the quiet strength of people navigating new worlds, grandparents, cousins, community members, and friends who crossed borders, rebuilt homes, and carried traditions with them. Our group sees this fundraiser as a gesture of gratitude, honoring the journeys that shaped our own families. This campaign is our way of extending the same warmth, protection, and solidarity our loved ones once needed. It’s a reminder that even in hard times, compassion is still a choice we get to make.

We each have family members, friends, or loved ones who have walked the hard path of resettlement, arriving in a new country with courage, fear, hope, and not much else. We’ve watched people we care about navigate language barriers, start over financially, or rebuild their support systems from zero.
So when we say this matters to us, it’s because we’ve lived close to it. We’ve seen the emotional toll, the small victories, and the power of community in helping someone feel safe again.

The International Rescue Committee has provided emergency relief that has helped people affected by humanitarian crises for over 90 years, addressing issues that arise from conflict, disaster, displacement and empowering people to become self-reliant. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Dallas helps refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced families rebuild their lives after a crisis. They provide housing assistance, employment support, English classes, healthcare navigation, and youth programs to help families regain stability and independence.

The organization has made an enormous impact around the world and across the United States and prides themselves in helping communities to survive, recover and rebuild with a focus on the needs of women and girls.

As of 2024, a record 123. 2 million people were forced to leave their homes, with 42.7 million being refugees and over 60 million being women and girls at risk of gender-based violence. This moment in our country is full of uncertainty, economic strain, political tension, and a lot of noise that makes it easy to forget the human beings caught in the middle. Globally, more than 43 million children have been displaced by war, disasters, or persecution (UNICEF, 2024), and Dallas remains one of the nation’s busiest resettlement hubs. Families continue to arrive every week hoping for stability and dignity.

Through cost effective, evidence-based programming, The International Rescue Committee provides malnutrition, emergency response, healthcare and more support that transforms lives. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, they now work in over 40 countries as well as communities throughout Europe and the Americas.

Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Even just a few dollars can help move this mission forward and reach those who need it most. Our focus is simple: meet people where they are, speak from the heart, and mobilize compassion within networks that already value community care and belonging.

If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world...

Our $750 goal supports IRC Dallas programs such as:
  • Emergency assistance: food, transit passes, supplies

  • Job readiness and ESL learning

  • After-school support for youth adjusting to new schools

  • Case management for housing, healthcare, and legal needs

While we can’t guarantee funds for a specific event, we can say this: every dollar contributes to a family’s chance at a gentler beginning.
