Medical Volunteer in Arusha, Tanzania

UPDATE:
I made this video as a part of my proposal to the Moellership committee and I have posted it here to give everyone the best idea of what I will be doing in a couple weeks! Originally I was to volunteer in Mombasa, Kenya (as you will see in the video) however FSU has recently determinded that the ongoing violence there poses too much of a threat to my safety. I understand their concerns and thus I have reorganzed my trip to volunteer in Arusha, Tanzania with the same organization, TAI African Electives. The Mt. Meru Regional Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania where I will be stationed will allow me to gain unparalleled hands on experience from shadowing surgeons and other various doctors. I will make the appropriate changes to the video shortly. Thank you again for believeing in me every step of the way!
I am currently a senior at Florida State University double majoring in Biology and International Affairs, with hopes of attending medical school next Spring. After researching various organzations focused on offering medical aid to those countries in need, I designed this proposal to become a medical volunteer with TAI Africa Electives in Mombasa, Kenya for 8 weeks this summer. I presented my proposal to the Moellership Committee at FSU who proceeded to grant me a scholarship to help fund this once in a lifetime opportunity. However, the scholarship does not fully cover the trips expensives such as the airfare, program fee, travel insurance, vaccinations, medications, and emergeny money. I could use any help in fulfilling my lifelong dream to help and learn from others less fortunate abroad. Thank you for all of your support!
