Gaelic Column 25th Anniversary

During 2017, The Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes & Drums is celebrating 25 years of performing traditional bagpipe music in the Boston area, throughout the country and even overseas. The success of our band for the last twenty-five years has been extremely rewarding, and at times extremely difficult. Most of the difficulty comes with outfitting, instructing, recruiting and transporting a band of our size. To manage month to month costs we do annual fundraisers, parades and sell a variety of merchandise. Unfortunately operating in this manner does not allow us to maintain or make improvements to our uniforms and instruments.
Twenty-five years of service to our profession, community, and heritage has taken it’s toll. We would like to mark this anniversary milestone and make improvements/replacements to our uniforms and drums. The expense of this undertaking is upward of thirty-thousand dollars. Kilts alone are over $700 each. As it stands, no member of our band receives any compensation and any expenses incurred beyond our means are paid out of pocket by our members.
For this reason, we are reaching out to you our supporters for your help. Never have we solicited donations in this manner, but it is the only way we can accomplish such an expensive undertaking. Attached is a link to the Go Fund Me page set up by the Boston Police Gaelic Column. We are asking if you feel so inclined to help our band purchase what is needed to maintain the legacy created twenty-five years ago, by a handful of insightful men, with nothing more in mind than honoring a fellow Police Officer.
We ask you to please support our effort to celebrate this historic occasion and make a donation to our fundraising campaign. Since 1992, the Gaelic Column has performed throughout the Boston area at parades, children’s hospitals, civic and private events, weddings and, sadly, many police and military funerals. Some of the charities we have helped are COPS for Kids with Cancer, the Jimmy Fund, Boston Marathon Survivors, and many 9/11 events. We are part of the musical culture of Boston, and your donation will help sustain our organization and allow us to continue to serve the numerous communities and charities we have been dedicated to for twenty-five years.
In the meantime, we will continue playing music, writing new tunes and looking forward to seeing all of you at our many upcoming events. With all that is changing around us, we are passionately trying to maintain our place in Boston’s Irish, Police, musical and community cultures as New England’s premiere pipe band. Your support and donations are critical to our longevity, and continued success.
Thank you in advance for your support!
