I'm Going to Africa!

Hello friends and family!

I am OVERJOYED that I have the opportunity to bring God's love to the people of Courage House in Tanzania. On December 27th, I will be traveling with a team from Trinity Lutheran to work with girls who have been freed from human trafficking and now live safely at Courage House.

Courage Worldwide Inc. is an international, non-profit organization that builds residential treatment centers called Courage Houses for children and young women rescued from sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world, and is second only to drug trafficking. The U.S. Department of Justice estimated it to be a $32 billion global industry annually, with estimates of $9.5 billion annually in the USA.

In order to rescue and protect women who have been victims of trafficking, two Courage Houses have been built – one in Northern California and the other in Tanzania, Africa. These homes provide a safe, loving environment for minors who are victims of sex trafficking coupled with a comprehensive, holistic approach in mental health, psychosocial, and education services, as well as spiritual guidance. Over the years, Courage Houses have been effective in that they provide a healing, therapeutic environment 24-7 based on a healthy family home model. Courage Worldwide’s goal is to build 1,000 homes in 100 countries in 10 years by expanding their current locations, as well as replicating the successful program worldwide.

I have known about Courage for the past few years now, and when the opportunity arose to go and serve at the Courage House in Tanzania, I jumped at the opportunity!  Courage has many tasks for our team to complete while we are there, but one specific area in which I am excited to help is that of educational training. Because I am an educator and have experience teaching students with various learning disabilities, I will be working with the educators of the Courage House women in order to provide reading and comprehension resources, tools, and strategies. Additionally, Courage House is planning on opening up a “Courage Café” this upcoming year, and our team is so excited to pour some work into that project while we are in Tanzania as well.

I am so thrilled to be a part of this team and this trip, and would be honored if you would be willing to support me in any means possible! Prayer is always HUGE, but the cost of the trip is around $2,300 and it would be such a blessing to have some of that monetary support as well. I have actually already paid for most of the trip out of my personal finances, so I am hoping to get some of that money back through fundraising.

I so appreciate all of you; thank you so much for partnering with me on this fantastic opportunity to minister to God's people!
