With great sadness we announce that after a tough 16 month battle with glioblastoma, Jason passed away December 27th, at the Bird House in Iowa City. There will be a gathering to celebrate his wonderful life from 5-7, Thursday, January 4th at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. This page will stay active to help support Jason's family with the accumulated medical expenses and funeral costs if you are considering donating.

We are writing this on the behalf of Jason Allen; a dedicated family man, worker and in general just a great person and friend to countless people. Jason has come into an incredibly tough time and situation in his life being recently diagnosed with brain cancer. This diagnosis only came to light after he had recently had bouts of disorientation and a scan revealed the golf ball sized tumor that needed to be immediately operated on and removed. Resulting biopsy tests after the surgery have revealed he is and will be battling an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer. The result of this surgery has left him unable to continue working at the company he has spent over 27 years providing an unmatched dedication to his clients and all employees working under his management.

As you can very much imagine, there are massive amounts of stress and weighted decisions that will be in front of Jason and his family in these upcoming months of treatments and trial searches. We would like to try to alleviate as much of that financial burden that we possibly can and start this fundraising effort. There are countless amounts of medical procedures that he will have to endure (radiation and chemotherapy) that you would normally associate with this type of diagnosis; but there are also lesser known methods of combating the disease with the hopes of prolonging the quality of life that of course have staggering costs associated with them. There are specific trials and treatments that Jason has and would like to start exploring; Vitamin C infusions and large scale supplement intake, for instance, have shown great promise but is not covered under standard medical insurances, thus leaving these approaches as strictly out of pocket expenses.

Jason and his family are very proud people and, like many of us, struggle mightily with the thought of asking anyone for help. This is why we are starting this fundraiser for him on their behalf because without a doubt Jason and his family would step in and do the same for anyone they came into contact with in the same situation.

Literally any donation would help and we will continue to modify and update the information for Jason as we journey through this process with him and his family. Thoughts and prayers as well as just general support and encouragement are just as important through this ordeal as many of us all know too well with dealing with this immensely difficult disease.
