Hi, everyone! I have an AMAZING opportunity to travel to Vietnam this summer. This trip has several purposes:
1. To gain a better understanding of the effects of Agent Orange on the 2nd and 3rd generation of Vietnam Veterans so I can educate others. This will include trips to orphanages and interacting with the Vietnamese in their homes.
2. To fulfill a dream of two people- one person being myself and the other being my father. My Daddy served in Vietnam, was exposed to AO, and was terribly wounded. He was diagnosed with 3 separate cancers in the fall of 2012 and died 3 months later. He always wanted to go back to Vietnam and never got the chance. I will get to see some historical sites while visiting. I would love to go as his representative and gain a perspective of the country that only a trip could fulfill.
3. To bring a multi-cultural experience to the students and staff at my school. I teach 1st grade in an inner-city school system. These children typically don't go too much farther than their own backyard. I look forward to sharing the language, art, music, food, traditions and customs with everyone.
This trip is to take place late July to early August. My hope is to be fully funded ASAP.
