Volunteering at an Orphanage in Peru
Donation protected
Thank you for your interest in learning more about La Comunidad de los Ninos Sagrada Familia, an orphanage in Lima, Peru, that supports over 750 children that range in ages from 3 to 18. The orphanage is run by Miguel Rodriguez, a wonderful Christian man who has spent his life caring for these children as his own. While in the orphanage, the children are taught academics, fed three meals a day, have opportunities to play sports, and are taught lessons about Jesus and the Bible.
Each summer my church, Westover Hills Church of Christ, takes a group of adults and teenagers to teach a week-long Vacation Bible School. The week of service will include daily worship with the children, Bible lessons and skits, crafts, and outdoor games.
In order to go I need to raise approximately $2,000 to cover the cost of round trip air fare, lodging, breakfast, 3 dinners, translators, teaching and craft materials, bus transportation, and bottled water. Other additional expenses include 4 more dinners, snacks (to serve as my lunch since we do not eat the food at the orphanage), travel insurance, and baggage checking at the airport.
