Guy's Stroke Treatment
Donation protected
This is Guy Desmarais. He's the loving father of four boys, oldest brother of five siblings, recent grandfather of two grand children, loving husband, and compassionate teacher of 25 years.
Guy was a Highschool teacher, who taught Science, History, French, Science and Law to students from grade 7-12. Guy's passion is teaching, and on October 22nd 2012, that career was stolen from him after he suffered a stroke that left Guy with severe fluent Aphasia & Moderate Apraxia.
Doctor's were never able to determine the cause, because Guy was very healthy. He exercised daily, and played recreational hockey, and golf. He's in better shape than most men half his age.
Guy has been in therapy for the last three years, but has been unable to regain his speech. Guy has a large, very close family, and is finding it very difficult to interact with and understand what his family is saying, and it breaks his heart.
Guy recently discovered the Institute of Neurological Recovery in Boca Raton Florida, and witnessed several videos and testimonies of people who had a similar stroke, but were cured through an experimental treatment. I urge everyone to click on that link and watch the video. While there's always a chance this treatment won't work, Guy feels we have to at least try. Here's another video courtesy of 60 minutes .
We're asking for your help to fund the trip, and treatment. We're looking at booking by the end of February 2016. The treatment costs $6,000 USD, and we're looking at around $1,300 CDN for each plane ticket. We would like to have a ticket for Guy, his gorgeous wife Jeanette, and one or two of his son's. Lastly, we would need funding for the hotel for three days.
If you could donate a dollar, five dollars, ten dollars, anything you can that would help Guy reach this goal, every single cent would be appreciated. Guy wants to teach again, and feels this might be his last chance to get back into the classroom.
I'm Guy's brother in law, and I'm writing this on the behalf of Guy's immediate family. Guy's been a role model for me, and has helped me become a great father and husband. On behalf of everyone in his family, thanks for taking the time to read this. Please help us give Guy a new chance on life, and a chance to touch the hearts and minds of our youth again.
Anything you can donate would mean the world to us. Can you please help by sharing this with as many people as possible.
Whether we reach or exceed our goal, any remaining cent NOT used will be donated to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
