Peter's liver transplant
Donación protegida
We are setting up a new campaign to help support the second phase of my liver treatment. Many of you have followed my progress this year and I thank you for your prayers and kind donations.
I have been blessed with health good enough to be productive with my family and around the house.
Several tests and trips this year were undertaken, but my MELD score stayed between 13 and 16. Although, with that score, I would have never qualified for a liver transplant. Recently, the Lord changed things up a little bit. I developed a 3.2 cm (1.2") cancerous lesion on the lobe of my liver. Yolanda and I went to Miami Jackson the first week of December for a special procedure to have it removed. As far as we know, the physician team was able to erradicate the infected area.
On a positive note, this cancerous lesion will enable me to become eligible for a transplant in sixth months. According to the new national UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) regulations for transplant patients, in six months (May 10th), my MELD score will automatically increase to 28. This will insure that the next compatible liver that comes available will go to me. It's a blessing to finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
My medical team wants to make sure, that I will stay healthy for the next six months. Yolanda and Sarah are taking good care of me and making sure that I am on track.
Our goal for 2016 is to once again raise the funds necessary for our insurance renewal. Our insurance deductible of $10,000 will go into effect January 1st, 2016.
We believe that God is in control and that all things come from Him and therefore, we walk in faith believing He will provide our needs.
Thank you and may God richly bless you all.
