Dreams of Our Family

Donation protected
My husband, Jeffry, and I have been together for 12 years and married for 2 this coming September. Three and a half years ago, I found out that I had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS) which then led to Endometrial/Uterine Cancer. We fought cancer for two years, going through treatment and tests. After all this, the cancer would not disappear. With the highly recommended suggestions of my doctor, we had to come to the realization that I had to have a hysterectomy.

This decision did not come lightly, as it has always been our dream to have children. I have always looked forward to carring a child, feeling the heartbeats and kicks. To have all the cravings and sleepless nights. To experience childbirth and that moment of meeting your precious child for the first time. This was not going to be the plan for me. But, for the sake of my health and making sure I was around to watch our future children grow up, it had to be done. Luckily the cancer did not effect my ovaries so we still have a chance of having children of our own. The only thing is now we have to do it using a gestational surrogate.

We have found a wonderful lady to be our surrogate that is only about an hour and a half from us here in North Carolina. We are so excited to start this process. Unfortunately, we are not able to really begin due to the lack of funds.

Here is what we have done so far after the cancer was detected:
Cancer testing and hormonal therapy for two years - $15,905
2 D&C's and MRI's - $20,781
Hysterectomy - $47,581
IVF with Embryo Fertilization and Freezing - $13,591
Here is the estimated cost of the things still to come for the Surrogate Process:
Surrogate - $15,000
IVF Medications, Embryo Thawing and Transfer for Surrogate - $15,000
Lawyers for both parties - $10,000

The hardest thing for us is to ask for help. But our dream to have children seem to be slipping out of reach with each step forward we take. While the medical expenses are being paid we are finding it difficult to continue moving forward, especially after our first IVF egg retrieval, fertilization and freezing for storage. We are putting money aside each paycheck to help with the costs but we aren't able to do this on our own.

This has been a dream of ours and we can't wait to have a family of our own. Any help that we receive will mean so much to us. Our goal is $35,000 which will pay for the embryo (baby) transfer to the surrogate, the surrogate herself, and the lawyers representing both us and the surrogate.

Please find it in your hearts to help us be able to give a child, and hopefully more in the future, the love that we long to share. We know everyone has their own challenges going on in their lives. But even the smallest donation will help. Thank you for reading our story and sharing in our journey.

Hopefully awaiting to become parents,

Mary and Jeffry
