As many of you know, Jack underwent an eight-hour surgery on Friday, October 17th to remove a tumor from his right prefrontal cortex. We are so grateful to share that he has been discharged from the hospital and is now at a rehabilitation center in Detroit, where he is focusing on physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. We are still waiting on the final pathology results, but we do know that chemotherapy or radiation will be part of Jack’s treatment plan moving forward.
Jack is in his fourth year of medical school and currently in the process of applying to residency programs. He has already been invited to interview at 22 programs for emergency medicine—an incredible accomplishment that reflects his hard work and dedication. To help Jack regain his full strength and continue on his path toward becoming a physician, he will need ongoing therapy and medical treatment.
We are asking for donations, no matter how big or small, to help support Jack on his road to recovery. Every contribution will make a difference in covering the costs of his care and rehabilitation, and will help him return to the life and learning he loves.
Jack’s brother, Joe, is moving to Detroit to be close by and assist with his care. His parents and sister will return to Nebraska but will visit as often as possible. Jack is surrounded by a strong support system made up of his fellow medical students, his boyfriend Carson, and many family and friends who are all dedicated to helping him through this journey.
Our family is deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and encouragement during this difficult time. With your support, we know Jack will make a full recovery and go on to achieve great things. Thank you for helping us stand beside him every step of the way.
