My Volunteer Trip To India

To rise up, we must lift others first. My name is Julia Green and I am a Sophmore at Design Tech High School. I started this service trip with my best freind a year ago and can not wait to see this program come to fruition. We hope this is the start of the dtech travel program and that there will be many more trips to come that will form the lives of students.

This Spring, thirteen other students and I will be traveling to India for a 10 day volunteer trip. We will perform multiple acts of service; assisting Tibetan refugees improve their English skills, some service at Nyingtob Ling, a Tibetan special needs school, assisting and being involved in cultural activities and more. When not immersed in volunteer work, we will learn about Buddhism, Tibetan history, and International development .The group will discuss current issues with NGO guest speakers through a series of interactive presentations and open dialogues.

I am really looking forward to impact the lives of others, and see the immediate change that of the service we will provide. I am excited that I get to experience this with my peers, as I feel this will bond us closer together.
