What is Bay Colony Shakespeare Company ?
We are a professional, classical theatre company, based on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Our vision is to bring great stories to our community: simply, compassionately, fully. Bay Colony Shakespeare is a full 501(c)3 and incorporated as a registered Massachusetts non-profit.
Where is the money going?
As with any other skilled trade, we believe our actors deserve respectful pay for the work they produce. The money donated will help to appropriately compensate our highly skilled team of actors and technicians.
What shows are you doing?
We are currently touring a production of Hamlet
at schools and public venues throughout the South Shore of Massachusetts. (See our website for details .)This summer we will get nice and cozy at the Greater Plymouth Performing Arts Center
with back-to-back productions of Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing! Bay Colony Shakespeare Company's goal is to be present in our community, offering workshops,educational packages and a veterans program. For more information, check out our website!
Why should I support Shakespeare on the South Shore?
1. Everyone deserves to experience Shakespeare done well. One shouldn't have to survive Boston traffic to see it.
2. There is a veritable gold mine of talent South of Boston. That talent is begging to be given the chance to shine.
3. As Ben Johnson put it; Shakespeare was "...not of an age, but for all time." Shakespeare's words and stories are timeless, exciting, and as relevant now as they were in the 17th century.
4. We need your help. In this day and age, fledgling theatre companies cannot survive on box office sales alone. With your support we can not only provide a professional, affordable Shakespeare experience between Boston and the Cape, but also sustain and appreciate the hard work and expertise that goes into producing these timeless works of art.
