Our Current Focus

We are still focused on helping starving families eating primarily from the trash and living without water.  Recently we have partnered with 2 organizations helping Casa Hogar : “La Divina Misericordia” (Divine Mercy) en Valencia, a Children’s Home and hunger relief effort, and  Comedor “San Francisco de Asís” (hunger relief effort) to feed starving children, pregnant women and elderly.

The situation in Venezuela has deteriorated even more with the pandemic. The lack of water and propane gas have affected tremendously the population. According to BBC news, only 26 % of the population receive water daily. In addition, since March, the government has declared absolute quarantine , which only allows people to go out to buy food. The number of people affected with the Corona virus have increased in the last days.

The main goal is to continue sending boxes of basic nutritious food and essential hygiene supplies to feed as many children and families in dire need as possible. Despite the country's lock down, all donation boxes continue arriving safely. Every dollar donated is being used to buy food/supplies and ship boxes.

Please consider donating any amount, no matter how small. Thank you for your continued support.

Casa Hogar was created by a family whose son battled leukemia and is now a 3rd year medical student. Their main focus is helping to feed hungry children in impoverished communities as well as pregnant mothers. They operate strictly on donations and have gone from feeding 25 children in their Children’s Home to upwards of 80 people daily due to the current need.

Comedor “San Francisco de Asís” is a volunteer driven effort providing food, masks and basic hygiene supplies to hundreds of children as well as going door to door to feed those in the most dire situations. This group of volunteers receive food boxes funded by your donations to then make nourishing soups and meals to feed as many people as possible. Their motto is “Ayúdanos a ayudar” meaning Help us to help others.

Who We Are?

My name is Valerie.  I am a thirty-three-years -old Venezuelan native who moved to Houston, Texas, when I was a teenager. My entire extended family, as well as countless other friends and their families, live in Venezuela. With the immense help from my mom, Mina, we are raising funds to help the people of Venezuela, who are in the middle of a crisis.

What Is Happening in Venezuela?

Venezuela has been in the news for the last few years because of its collapsing economy.  I’m sure many of you have seen on TV or read about the empty grocery stores, long queues to buy basic food necessities,  hospitals without medicine and supplies, power cuts and, water shortages. According to reports by CBS, in August, 2019 "the hyperinflation hit 10 million percent since 2018, according to the International Monetary Fund".

Food shortages, rampant inflation and a worthless currency have made it difficult, if not impossible, for the average Venezuelan to afford basic food. According to reports by EFE, the minimum monthly wage in Venezuela is only $2. "With the US dollar worth around 20,000 bolivars, the minimum wage of 40,000 bolivars set by the government is worth $2.00 a month, not enough to buy a kilo (2 pounds) of meat or a carton of eggs", And this situation is not limited to the poor; it is estimated that 90% of the population of Venezuela cannot afford to buy food.

The result is that thousands of Venezuelans are malnourished and facing starvation because they only have enough food for one meal a day or because they must ration food for their children.  This is an appalling humanitarian crisis, and help is crucial to saving lives. But international aid agencies and charities have been ineffective because the government will not officially admit that a food crisis exists, so it refuses all offers of aid. Without assistance, according to news reports, the current situation will not improve.

How We Can Help

Since June of 2016, therefore, my mom has packaged boxes with food and medicine to ship to people in need. She works with a shipping company called Mi Carga who ships and distributes the boxes to families all over Venezuela.  But now we need YOUR HELP to send more boxes to other families in need.

Won’t you please help us?  No matter how small the donation, every little bit helps. The money will be used to buy basic non-perishable food and to pay the cost of shipping. The food will be shipped directly to individuals, churches and some charities in the country who need the food, not to government officials.  That way the shipments are sure to go to the people.

We thank you for your help and support to aid so many families in need.
