Temporary housing costs and then the slow process of rebuilding. We have extensive damage inside the house.
I estimate 15-25K or over of costs. We have no flood insurance.
Family & friends are helping all they can.Neither Sharon nor I can work the long hrs needed to make our home inhabitable again.
We got about 6 inches inside. Some things we were able get above the water line. Most we could not.Mold forms very fast in the heat of S Carolina lately it has been in the high 80s to low 90s . It is a danger to health. One person in our area has already died from mold exposure.
Each visit reveals more hidden damage.
Saturday morning a great crew from the Mormon church in Columbia,SC came to help us strip out the carpet (new in 2015) and sheet rock w/insulation up to 4ft or full 8ft as needed it moisture was detected. The Mold MUST be stopped.
We ran the AC as low as it would go from the time we could get into the house. We had raised the outside pump up on sawhorses and I'm glad we did because it kept it operational and it dropped the humidity and drew out alot of moisture.
Now as the soaked mold covered wood is exposed we will heat the inside as hot as the AC will go to dry things as soon as we can so we can clean in preparation for reconstruction....all mold must be stopped First.
We were very grateful to these men who gave freely of their time and good will to help us.
Stop back for updates....I will post the best pictures of the work so far.12-14 hr days straight through the weekend the old man here is 'pushing it' smiles.
