The magic number 17

My name is Bethany Doherty, I am a 16 year old Australian who has recently committed the next 12 months of my life to volunteering for the not for profit Suluhisho in Kenya.

Suluhisho is building a sustainable children's village in the village of Kapounja in Western Kenya, providing care, love and a future for orphaned and abandoned children while creating employment opportunities to so many others so that sustainable change can occur for individuals, families and communities.

On the 7th of March 2014 I will turn 17 and for the first time in my life I am choosing to spend it away from my family and all the blessings and luxuries that my life in Australia offers. It is my goal in my 17th year to contribute to the work of Suluhisho and to give back a little so that they can do so much more. My goal is to raise $1000 for every year of my 17 blessed years to contribute to the work of Suluhisho. Please help me to reach this goal by donating $17 or more to my cause and sharing this with your family and friends on Facebook, email, twitter or any other way you can imagine. If you would like to find out more about the work of Suluhisho please go to their website www.suluhisho.com
