Help Get Georges to St. Anne's Home at Last!
The good news is that after a six-year wait, dear, sweet Georges is finally getting into Saint Anne’s Home for the elderly, run by the Little Sisters of the Poor!
He'll be moving in next week and this will be heaven on earth for this man who was orphaned and has had a difficult life. His happiest years were being raised by kind nuns in an orphanage in Alexandria, Egypt.
His biggest wish is to spend his final years in the care of nuns again. He is a devout, angelic, tiny (4 foot nothing!) man who is now 85 years old and in a wheelchair with Parkinson’s. He's cheerful and sweet, but needs love and care.
Georges has been living in a challenging nursing home in San Francisco for past the seven years, sharing a small 3-person room with an almost daily revolving door of roommates (in varying degrees of medical or mental distress). Kelly has been looking out for him the entire time as both his medical and legal advocate.
However, he has no funds and we would love your help with what he needs to finally get him home to St. Anne’s!
Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated to help this humble and saintly man. His needs are very minimal, except for this time of transition for him.
Approximately $1,500 would cover the following needs:
Replace a basic mobile phone (stolen last week from his bedside at the nursing home)
Used furniture for his new room (empty, except for a hospital bed):
Bureau
Nightstand
Bookshelf
Recliner chair
Lamp for reading
Help with delivery fees for used furniture pick ups
Help with his last month's rent owed to his current nursing home ($500). He is overdrawn on his small account.
Bus money. He gets around in his wheelchair on the bus...mostly going to Mass!
New clothing (shirts, shoes, socks, pants, jacket)
Any remaining funds will go to give him some pocket money to get a coffee or a small bite while he's out on the bus
